Wow. Where did November go? The Christmas season is right on the door step...
Coming up next Awana, Dec.2, it will be a practice night for our Christmas concert. We will also be going outside to watch the Parade of Lights. Parents are welcome (as always) to drop by early to join us and we'll have some hot chocolate afterwards in the church basement. See you there.
(BTW: our Christmas Concert is Dec. 9th; the following week. It will begin at 7:00pm - please arrive around 6:45 so everyone can be seated in time. There will be coffee and treats afterwards in the basement. All are welcome to attend.)

The 3rd Night
I think things are starting to settle down into a norm as we work through our third club meeting of this season. We still have some room left, especially in the grades 3 to 6 range, so if you know of anyone who would like to try out our Awana club, send them our way. We allow new people to come as visitors for up to 2 club nights before they need to register, so they can try it out and see if they like it with no commitments.
Where is our club, anyway? We meet most Friday nights at 7:00pm (come at 6:40 to sign in) at the Bible Baptist Church, 765 Sask. Ave West, Portage, MB.
What do we do? There are 3 parts of an Awana Club night. Handbook time is where you work through your own handbook on various sections (learning Bible verses and reading over stories) with your Leader.
In game time, you play with other kids your age in games such as Prisoner's Base, Knock-It-Down, relay races, Bombardment, Soccer Baseball, Towel Dodge, floor hockey and many others.
We end each club night with Council Time, where we do some songs, we have a council time message about God, and award Clubbers who have earned awards for completing sections in their books.
Keep in mind, we won't have Awana on Nov.11th.

First Awana Night of 2011-2012
This Friday, October 14th is our first Awana of the new season. If you haven't registered, you can still do so on this or any Awana night, but please come a bit early so we have time to finish the paperwork.
Door should open at 6:40pm.
We have a new sign-in table at the bottom of the stairs; go to the table when you arrive to sign in. At this table you can earn a share if you've done 4 out of 5 of the attendance based tasks (pay your dues, wear your uniform, bring your handbook, attend our Sunday School and bring your Bible).
The sign-in table closes at 6:55; if you arrive after that, go to the Secretary to sign in; but you can only win shares if you get to club on time and sign in at the table before 6:55.
See you at club!

Upcoming Awana Season
We're getting ready for a new Awana season. For those who attended last year, we'll be putting together an invite for registration for this year, and for those who are new, you can contact me or drop by on the registration night (see below).
We've changed a few things, and that will be explained as time goes on, but the core of the program is the same; games, handbooks and big-group time. The cost may go up a bit this year to cover the costs of the program; details to follow. (The tentative number is $20 for the year per clubber.)
Our official Registration Night is planned for Friday, September 30th at the Bible Baptist Church. The first Awana night will be October 14th (2 weeks later). If you want to register beforehand, you can contact me for details.
Please come to 765 Saskatchewan Ave West, in Portage on the registration night to register. Doors will open at approximately 7:00pm. See you there!

Awana Fun Fair
Thank you for everyone who came out to participate in the Grand Prix races. For those who placed in the top 4 speed or the top 3 designs, those participants can go to the Awana Grand Prix Open in Winnipeg. See me for details if you want to go.
Our club resumes this Friday, April the 8th. That night will be our annual fun fair, where we change up the evening's format to a fair type fun night instead of the usual game-handbook-council time. The times are the same, but the clubbers will be going around to various games and stations earning points for their teams.
Next Friday, April 15th, is a regular night, but also the last one of this season.
